One of Our Favourite Roses
September 19, 2019
One of our favourite roses is Pink Floyd. This rose opens fully and has great longevity as well as a lovely, light fragrance. Just look at that beautiful burst of colour!
Red Florals for Harry Rosen
June 16, 2017
We had an exciting project this week. We created a fresh arrangement in these two containers with mostly red florals for Harry Rosen. These pieces are very large and required a special delivery to Bay and Bloor by Mike & Kristina to set them up.
Remembrance Day Poppy Display
June 1, 2017
We received a request to work with this poppy from a client. The Stoneclough Remembrance Day Poppy Display was inspired by last year’s breath taking display of ceramic poppies at the Tower of London. Our designer Robin created this piece with it. The poppy is one of 888,246 pieces in the display at the tower. Each poppy represents a British fatality in the first World War. It was a real privilege for us to do this project.
A Very Special ‘Thank You’ Drawing
May 17, 2017
We had a request a few weeks ago from someone who wanted to send something to a dear friend to uplift her spirits. Olivia was very specific on what it needed to be — “not too big, not too small” — and, “my friend will be upset if I spend too much money.” I suggested a large posy and a vase, and Olivia went with the suggestion. Her friend, Rose, was delighted and Olivia sent us a ‘thank you’ in the form of this drawing. We have never received a ‘thank you drawing’ before! Thank you so much, Olivia!
Massive Floral Arrangements by Robin
May 5, 2017
Our designer Robin is creating these fantastic arrangements in the store today. Four of them have been ordered for a celebration of life ceremony. To give you an idea of the size, they are 33 inches wide by about 40 inches tall. They’re almost as wide as our door, so be careful on your way out!
Christmastime is Here in Toronto
December 8, 2016
The colder weather is finally coming, and we are ready for Christmas at the store. One of a kind dried arrangements, wreaths and our Norfolk pine planters seem to be selling very well. Don’t forget to shop early, as we would love to see and help you get what you need at our store.
Final Shipment of Plants for the Festive Season
October 24, 2016
We have received a shipment of plants for the festive season this week. They are a tropical indoor plant that is grown in Florida – the Norfolk Island pine, which is easy to care for and decorate for the festive season. Shop early for these as it is our last shipment due to the wrath of hurricane Matthew in the south.
Last Day of Working Outside on Fall Urns
September 27, 2016
Yesterday was our last day of working outside on the fall urns. I caught Helen having some fun with her hat during her work. We are inside our busy store this week with two weddings and two parties all on Saturday October 1st. Also a photo of me and some of our work we did yesterday.
Custom Made in House Dried Arrangements
August 16, 2016
Since The Flower Room opened almost 20 years ago we have always been known for creating lovely intricate small dried arrangements. These are custom made one of a kind pieces that are created randomly by our designers or custom ordered by a client perhaps in their special container. These dried arrangements can last up to nine years if not placed in direct sunlight.

It is with a little excitement and sadness that we announce the retirement of our Ural motorcycle, Olga, named after my Grandma who came here from the Ukraine. It was purchased on April 9th 2005, and over the years she has done many a delivery and carried our clients and their pets for rides around the neighbourhood. Everyone seemed to like seeing the bike scoot to and fro and parked in front of the store.
Now for the exciting part – we have a new Ural for the store! The new Olga is forest green in colour and I am very excited to be her pilot. She did her first day at the store yesterday.

The Flower Room has been a sponsor of The Toronto High Park Football Club for many years. We always ask to sponsor a girls’ team as we think the boys might prefer a more masculine sponsor. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive my own Flower Room team jersey as a gift from the club. I will wear it with enthusiasm – go team go!

Nadya at Cocos Closet on Jane Street very much loves our summer creation! Couture clothing and accessories with our florals to compliment. Thanks so much Nadya.
Spring is Arriving Soon
Spring is hopefully going to arrive soon. When it does Helen, Luba and I will be out planting your urns for spring. It appears the worst of the cold will be over after this weekend. No one said that the arrival of spring would be easy. It always has a twist. These photos hopefully put a bit of warmth in the equation.

Our photographer friend Ron took a lovely photo of this spring wreath that he found in the store. All of our wreaths are made in house by our designers and are one of a kind. We can even custom make one for you. Unlike a fresh wreath, dried wreaths can be carefully stored after each season and used for many years to come.

This event happened on Saturday December 5th at the ACC and was hosted by the Toronto Raptors. Guess who did the florals?
December 2, 2015
Helen just picked up these cute little trees recently. She went over to drop one off to her mom and Luba gave her a Charlie Brown Snoopy toy that she played with a couple of years back when she was a kid. The toy was originally filled with soap and purchased from the local Avon lady. The tree of course has now become the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. It is also for sale at our store minus the Snoopy toy.

These were made for a client who has been visiting us since the beginning of our business, when we were a small kiosk in the back of Art In Iron about 20 years ago.
Helen recently created a series of dried arrangements for the lobby of a condominium residence in our neighbourhood. This is one of three. Handmade by us!

These few items show up on our list same time every year: full-petaled rose called harlequin, sweet scented clove flowers and blooming oregano. My little vase I took home for that rainy weekend. Perfect.
June 26, 2015
Robin, our designer, created these extremely cool pieces for a young lady graduating high school. These florals are hand-painted in the rainbow colours by her mother in celebration of Pride Week. We think they look amazing, and our Kristina took these lovely photos for us to share with you.

Helen went to the market this morning to visit our friend Janet, a local grower. Helen has been purchasing flowers from Janet for over 15 years at the market. Here are some photos of local peonies, stock and sweet peas grown in the Niagara region. We buy local when we can.

Miss Sunshine 50 shades of pink. Received these gerbera daisies yesterday. Kinda cute!
May 25, 2015
We have started planting. With the very low temp of plus 1 on Friday night we were reminded why we don’t like to start the summer planting too early! We started on Sunday, and we will be in the store until Wednesday this week and working outside starting Thursday again. I know everyone is anxious for their summer pots, but please remember these tropical plants will flourish and provide much enjoyment until mid-October and the cold nights come. We are right on track and even earlier than last year, as we started last year on May 28th. Hope to see you soon. Here are a few photos of our work on Sunday.

The Flower Room is a sponsor of THPFC. Our girls received their new jerseys on the weekend! Go team go! Have a great season!
April 8, 2015
With Easter coming early and winter staying late, it has been difficult to start planting.
April 5, 2015
Thought I would share some of the amazing photos that we have of our Easter week at the store.
February 6, 2015
Our designer, Robin, created this lovely dried arrangement this week featuring little hot pink hearts! Are you ready for Valentine’s Day?
January 31, 2015
Kinda scrumptious! Sure reminds me of spring! Every day that passes brings us closer to spring renewal. Blackberries, heather, ranunculus, freesia, tulips and lisianthus! Ready for your table.
December 12, 2014
The Flower Room is proud to have provided the florals for this amazing event. The event was held at The ACC. There is a large arrangement on either side of the podium and many others.

Baby, it’s cold outside! Thanks to all our friends and neighbours who came out today in support of our local merchants! We appreciate you very much and are very proud to be here for you. I had to take this photo of the great band playing in front of the store today! I think it was a great day for everyone.
October 10, 2014
Our great friend Ron took some photos of our latest urns creations. I had to post some of these, as his work is just amazing.

Leafs VIP party at Dundas Square tonight. The Flower Room provided some florals for the party. It was a very difficult delivery, as there were street closures and music provided by The Tragically Hip. Here is a quick photo of vases provided for the cruiser tables.
October 5, 2014
Helen and I are officially finished with the fall planting. Our last project was the planter box in front of our store. I took a quick photo today after watering.
September 12, 2014
Helen had a great day in the store today. We were very busy with a variety of things going on. Helen was involved in a video interview for a chance to be featured on a new TV series coming out this spring on the FOX network. The show is called ‘Profiles In Business Excellence’ and will feature different businesses and their owners in each episode. Helen answered a series of questions and was interviewed today. We will know in a few weeks if they would like to use our business. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

The beginning of autumn is here! Helen, Luba and I are starting to prepare ourselves for the fall planting and gathering supplies at the market. Hope everyone enjoyed the summer months — hope to see you in the neighbourhood!

These vase arrangements will be travelling to cottage country today. They were purchased for a dinner party tonight. Our client is hoping they will warm up her guests from this unusually cold week we are having.
